Deepen your yoga practice with inversions and look at your life from another perspective!
Most yogis will say their biggest challenge in their practice is mastering inversions. Not only do these poses require strength physically, they conjure up fears and limitations that we set within ourselves calling for our internal strength to make an appearance.
The first time you do an inversion unassisted, there is a rush of adrenaline followed by elation. Once the fear is defeated, the innumerable benefits of inversions can begin to do their magic.
If you are like most practitioners, your inversions could use some work. We will address the mechanics of poses like Handstand, Headstand, Tripod Headstand, Shoulder Stand and Forearm Stand. We will focus on alignment, the use of props and the wall in these poses, as well as the preparatory poses to strengthen shoulders and improve balance.
There are enough benefits to write a book on the subject, but a few benefits of inversions are listed below: - Improved circulation - Improved mental awareness - Strengthens the core - Calms the mind - Gives the heart a rest - Stimulates the endocrine system - Can lower blood pressure - Reduce the effects of age and gravity on the body
